We repeat our favorite winter experience at zero degrees latitude. Explore the Ecuadorean culture amidst the most beautiful mountains. Day trips are planned, and yet there is still the time to practice a favorite interest: photography, Spanish, sketching, hiking, bird watching, yoga and more. Visit Quito, a World Heritage site since 1978 and colonial master piece; then Otavalo with its bustling marketplace and abundant crafts people. A third stop is the Intag Cloud Forest to see shade coffee, sisal weaving and visit the hot springs. All activity levels welcome.
The Torres del Paine & the new Patagonia Park.
Let’s visit when the light is long; the parks are at their finest; at the peak of their summer. Fly to Santiago, Chile for connections to Puerto Arenas, a city worth visiting for a couple of days at the tip of the country on the Magellan Straights. Torres del Paine park is offers stunning glacial views of high peaks, yet they are near to sea level. Activity level based on the group: choose moderate to very active. Argentinian segment will include Estancia Cristina, a remote and marvelous repurposed sheep farm and guest ranch.
